Naea Esma is a Moroccan-Dutch artist based in New York’s Lower East Side. Her practice begins with recurring images rooted in lived experience, which she translates into sculptural forms through metal, glass, photomontage, and found materials. Her work explores memory, vulnerability, and the relationship between inner experience and physical reality.
Naea considers the emotional weight that materials and forms can carry. Her process is guided by a desire to preserve and transform images that have remained with her, allowing personal experience to become something physical while leaving space for interpretation.
Her work has been presented at the Agnes Varis Art Center in Brooklyn. She is the founder of ZEEGRIJS and an incoming Artist-in-Residence at UrbanGlass.
